About

UO Poetry Slam

Let your voice be heard!

The UO Poetry Slam, founded by undergraduates Alexander Dang (English) and Hannah Golden (Journalism), seeks to build a community and audience for poetry on campus that embodies the inclusiveness and excitement of slam poetry and is open to all interested UO students (both spectators and performers). The UO Poetry Slam holds several open mics, workshops, and competitive slams each term to foster community, increase interest in slam poetry, recruit for the team, and raise money to travel to competitions.

2014-2015 Team Roster:

  • Hannah Golden (Captain)
  • Dante Doublas
  • Sarah Hovet
  • Sarah Menard

The UO Poetry Slam’s team has been featured in The Daily Emerald, and members have performed at the end-of-year English Department meeting, the Eugene Poetry Slam, the Portland Poetry Slam, the National Poetry Slam, and TEDx, and many campus events, and even in classrooms on campus.
